Small Case Commercial Mediation Scheme (SCCMS)
About the SCCMS
The SCCMS is an initiative established by the Singapore
Mediation Centre (SMC) that aims to provide mediation
services for cases where the quantum of claim is S$30,000 or
less.
Mediation is an alternative to avoidance, destructive
confrontation or prolonged litigation. It gives people in
conflict an opportunity to take responsibility for the
resolution of their dispute and control of the outcome.
Supervised by members of the SMC Panel of Principal
Mediators, the scheme will focus on helping the public to
settle commercial disputes amicably. The SCCMS will provide
those seeking dispute settlements with a straightforward and
hassle-free system.
Benefits of the SCCMS
- Cost Effectiveness – cheaper than litigation.
- Time Saver – faster dispute resolution.
- Fewer Risks – retain control over the outcome.
- Preserves Relationships – an amicable process that
requires both parties to work together.
