Asian Mediation Association
The Asian Mediation Association (AMA) is made up of member
organisations involved in mediation, which are based in
Asia. AMA will enable these Asian organisations to share
resources, best practices, experience and local knowledge.
This will be done through joint promotional events,
conferences and research and development projects.
The AMA was officially launched on 17 August 2007 in

1st AMA Conference

"Mediation Diversity – Asia & Beyond"

Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC)
will be the host of the 1st AMA Conference. The
conference’s goal is to boost the mediation
movement, particularly in Asia, by providing a forum
for the exchange of the latest ideas and
developments in mediation in different
jurisdictions. AMA is honored to have the Former
Finnish President, Mr Martti Ahtisaar as the
conference keynote speaker. Mr Ahtisaari was awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize for 2008 by the Norwegian
Nobel Committee for his role as an outstanding
international peace mediator.

Call for
Papers |

In conjunction with the AMA
Inaugural Conference, AMA welcomes academics,
scholars, researchers, practitioners and other
interested individuals and organisations to present
papers on topics
listed here.
The papers should cover mediation-related ideas,
theories, practice or experience in your country
that may be useful to developing mediation in other
countries. Papers should ideally provide practical
lessons which will advance the field or practice of
mediation. |

1st AMA Chairman-Designate |

We are pleased to announce that Mr
George Lim Teong Jin, a past President of the Law
Society of Singapore and a member of the SMC’s Board
of Directors is the 1st AMA Chairman-Designate. He
has been a staunch supporter and intimately involved
in the development of mediation in Singapore. The
term of office of the AMA Chairman shall be two
years beginning 1st January 2009. |
