Security of Payment Act Seminars
Seminar for Adjudicators
Since the inception of the Building and
Construction Industry Security of Payment (SOP) Act in 2005,
Singapore Mediation Centre has recorded over 289
adjudication cases. The number of cases recorded has shown a
year on year increase and the number is expected to rise.
This is an indication that the development of the
adjudication process in Singapore is gaining popularity.
Once again this year, the SMC is pleased to
hold its annual Seminar for Adjudicators on the adjudication
process under the SOP Act. This seminar will be conducted by
members of the Construction Adjudicator Accreditation
Committee.
The seminar will deal with issues such as:
-
Overview of the SOP cases in the last 12
months;
-
Dealing with procedural requirements
relating to payment claims and payment responses;
-
Dealing with conduct of adjudication
hearings and observing the rules of natural justice;
-
Dealing with payment claims and disputes
commonly faced by adjudicators.
The seminar will also provide an update to
participants on the latest SOP cases including analysis of
issues arising in recent determinations. SOP Adjudicators
are encouraged to attend this seminar as this is a valuable
opportunity to learn more about the latest in adjudication
matters.
